Vault keys are, unsurprisingly, the key to opening a vault in Fortnite and, without one, you risk missing out on some very useful loot.
Since not every vault will appear in each match, it’s a good idea to know the vault locations so you don’t waste your vault keys.

Instead, you need to track down a vault key and then head to the nearest vault to earn your loot. Once there, simply insert your key into the lock and start opening chests - as long as another player hasn’t gotten there first!
There are, however, some vaults on the island which require two vault keys to open. For this reason, you should know how to find vault keys…
You can also earn vault keys by defeating players who are carrying one, because, just like their weapons, the vault key will drop after their death. There is, however, no way of knowing if a player is carrying a vault key, so keep your eyes out when an enemy falls. You could even lie in wait and murder someone just as they’re opening a vault!
Remember - some of the vaults hidden across the map can only be opened using two vault keys.

The vault locations, however, will only appear on this map after you’ve found a vault key. Each location is represented by a lock - the locks with a single keyhole require one key, while those with two need to two keys to open.
