It’s the second in a set of four special research quests themed around the Alola region, with the first being A Melemele Adventure. The next two quests will focus on Ula’ula Island and Poni Island. If you complete all four special research quests before Wednesday, 1st June, you’ll gain free access to an end-of-season event for the Season of Alola.
An Akala Adventure doesn’t, however, have a deadline, so feel free to complete it at your own pace - just keep the Wednesday, 1st June deadline in mind.
An Akala Adventure consists of four quest steps and, like every Pokémon Go research quest, you must complete three challenges for each step, collecting the rewards as you progress.
